But don't devote all your time to L.A. because you will miss out! Check out Palm Springs, the retro chic hangout of Sinatra and Elvis, mother of all theme parks - the original Disneyland and Sacramento steeped in California's pioneer history.
California is one of America's most popular holiday destinations because of this Amtrak have created the Amtrak California Rail Pass specifically designed so that you can make the most out of your trip.
Why spend your whole holiday in one place and miss out on so much. With this pass you can travel around as much or as little as you'd like and because the travel days do not need to be consecutive it offers you even more flexibility.
The California Rail Pass allows for up to 7 days of travel in California over a 21-day period.
Pass holders are entitled to regular Coach Class travel.
Passengers may upgrade to Business Class or Sleeping Accommodations by paying the applicable accommodations fees. In addition to holding the pass, you must make reservations on all trains.
Please make your reservations well in advance to avoid disappointment.
Eligible Trains
- Capitols, San Joaquin, and Pacific Surfliner corridor trains
- Most connecting Thruway services
- Coast Starlight between Los Angeles and Dunsmuir, California
The California Rail Pass is not valid on long-distance trains, including the Sunset Limited, the Southwest Chief, the California Zephyr, and the Texas Eagle.
On the Coast Starlight, travel to or from points outside California requires a separate fare, calculated between Dunsmuir and the out-of-state origin or destination.
